Warning

Event

Teachers from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province are holding a sit-in protest outside former prime minister and Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan's residence in the Bani Gala area of Islamabad as of June 20. Participants commenced the sit-in June 19 to demand several concessions from the government, including that the government does not dock pay for women on maternity leave. The teachers have stated that they will continue to protest until the government satisfies their demands.

Authorities will likely monitor the protest and may try to disperse the gathering if it becomes especially disruptive. The protest and resultant security response will likely prompt localized transport disruptions. Clashes between protesters and police are possible.

Advice

Avoid the protest due to possible violence. If clashes break out, leave the area immediately. Follow all security instructions. Allow additional travel time in the area.
