A magnitude-5.1 offshore earthquake occurred in the South Pacific Ocean west of La Libertad Region at around 23:51 June 23. The epicenter was about 82 km (51 miles) south-southwest of Trujillo. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 71 km (44 miles), and weak-to-light shaking was probably felt throughout La Libertad, Ancash, southern Cajamarca, and southern Lambayeque regions.
