Crews are working to contain a wildfire burning in southeastern South Korea as of early June 2. The wildfire is near Bubuk-myeon Town, Miryang City, South Gyeongsang Province, approximately 280 km (174 miles) southeast of Seoul. Authorities estimate that the fire has burned 676 hectares (1,670 acres) and is around 73-percent contained. More than 2,450 personnel are on-site battling the blaze. The fire is spreading northwards due to strong winds; additional wildfire growth is likely. Authorities have evacuated more than 470 people from nearby villages.
