Labor union plans to hold rally in Seoul, South Korea, July 2. Increased security likely; clashes possible.
Event
The Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) plans to hold a mass rally in Seoul July 2 to demand improved labor policies and an increased minimum wage. The protest site remains unclear, but possible gathering locations include the presidential office in Yongsan District, Yeouido Park, Gwanghwamun Plaza, City Hall Station, and Dongdaemun Intersection. KCTU, South Korea's largest union, claims as many as 60,000 people will participate in the demonstration.
Authorities will likely increase security at any rally site and its surrounding areas July 2. Localized transport and business disruptions are possible during the rallies, especially if activists occupy nearby roads. While violence is unlikely at the rallies, clashes between protesters and police remain possible.
