Informational

Unionized freight workers in South Korea have ended their strike after talks with officials as of June 15. The cargo workers' wing of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) began the action June 7 to call for fare increases and assistance measures amid increasing fuel costs. Striking workers blocked entrances of ports and Inland Container Depots (ICDs), and also obstructed some business operations. The action caused disruptions to port operations in multiple locations, including Busan, Daesan, Ulsan, and Pohang. Lingering disruptions may continue beyond the end of the strike as service providers work to resolve backlogs.
