South Sudan: Protest ongoing outside Parliament in Juba June 6

Staff working at Parliament in Juba are protesting outside the parliament building as of June 6. As many as several hundred participants are reportedly demonstrating against unpaid wages. Security forces have deployed and are monitoring the protest.

Security forces will almost certainly remain deployed in the coming hours. Localized transport disruptions are likely through June 6. Clashes between protesters and security forces are possible. Further protests are possible in the coming days if demonstrators' demands are not met.
