Sweden, Denmark, Norway: Scandinavian Airlines pilots threaten to strike in Sweden, Denmark, and Norway from June 29

SAS pilots threaten indefinite strike in Sweden, Denmark, and Norway starting June 29. Flight disruptions likely.

Warning

Event

Unionized Scandinavian Airlines (SK) pilots have threatened to stage an indefinite strike in Sweden, Norway, and Denmark starting June 29 if ongoing mediation with management fails to produce an agreement. The pilots are demanding higher wages amid the increased cost of living.

Unless averted, up to 80 percent of the carrier's pilots could walk off the job June 29, prompting major disruptions across its network. Although the airline is taking measures to reduce the impact of a potential strike, significant flight delays and cancellations remain likely.

Advice

Confirm flights if booked to fly on Scandanavian Airlines from June 29. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Consider alternate arrangements for critical travel.
