US: Major police operation underway in Pittston, Penn., June 1 /update 1

Police in Pittston, Pennsylvania, are continuing their operation to apprehend the suspect in a shooting incident that took place near the intersection of Route 315 and Chestnut Stree on June 1. Initial reports indicate that at least one person was injured in the shooting. Authorities are concentrating their efforts near the intersection of Smith and Curtain streets where the suspect was last spotted; a large police presence has been deployed to the area.

As part of the operation, authorities have closed Route 315, as well as Exit 175 on Interstate Highway 81 (I-81). Significant transport and business disruptions are likely to persist through the early evening of June 1.
