Informational

Event

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa branch of the Young Teachers Association (YTA) plans to hold a sit-in protest outside former prime minister Imran Khan’s residence in Islamabad July 19. Participants will protest at the residence, located in the Bani Gala area, to demand several concessions, including that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government rehire employees who had previously lost their jobs. Several hundred people may participate in the protest. Organizers may extend the sit-in until officials satisfy their demands.

Authorities will likely monitor the protest and may try to disperse the gathering if it is especially disruptive. Clashes between protesters and police are possible. The protest and resultant security response may prompt localized transport disruptions.

Advice

Avoid the protest due to possible clashes. If violence breaks out, leave the area immediately. Follow all security personnel instructions. Allow additional travel time near the gathering.
