Protesters affiliated with the National Union of Workers of Construction and Similar Industries (El Sindicato Unico Nacional de Trabajadores de la Industria de la Construccion y Similares, SUNTRACS) are causing significant traffic disruptions in Panama City July 5. Demonstrators have blocked part of the Pan American Highway (Corredor Sur) near Tucumen International Airport (PTY) and caused traffic disruptions outside the airport. Protesters have also reportedly gathered in central Panama City along Avenida Centenario in the Coco del Mar neighborhood. The demonstration is over the price of fuel, among other issues. PTY has not reported any disruptions to operations as a result of protests, but traffic delays are likely to affect travelers trying to reach the airport.
