Flooding and associated disruptions are ongoing in Buchanan County, Virginia, as of July 13 following heavy rainfall. Recovery efforts are underway. The most affected areas are along Dismal River Road, and around the towns of Grundy, Patterson, and Hale Creek. More than 100 homes have reportedly been severely affected by flooding, with 40 people remaining missing; however, there are as yet no confirmed deaths. Officials have declared a state of emergency in the area, while emergency crews from multiple nearby counties are participating in the response.

A shelter and reunification center has been established at Twin Valley Elementary/Middle School in Oakwood. Power outages are occurring in the area; moreover, authorities have issued boil water advisories for locations in the impact zone. Multiple roads are blocked. Disruptions will likely continue for several days.
