New Caledonia: Air Caledonie warns of flight disruptions due to strike Aug. 4

Air Caledonie flight disruptions occurring in New Caledonia Aug. 4 due to labor action. Confirm transport arrangements.

Informational

Event

Air Caledonie (TY) has warned that flight delays could continue in New Caledonia through at least the afternoon of Aug. 4. USTKE union members are striking in the territory to demand the reinstatement of a recently retrenched local pilot in training. TY claims that the pilot has failed to attain the proper level to pilot flights.

The union and supporters are reportedly protesting outside the Noumea Magenta Airport (GEA) terminal. Smaller gatherings are possible at other airports in the territory. However, significant traffic delays at terminals are unlikely.

Advice

Confirm flights. Contact TY to reschedule flights or make alternative arrangements, if necessary. Do not check out of accommodations until verifying onward travel.
