New Caledonia: Officials lift COVID-19 travel restrictions as of Aug. 3 /update 32
New Caledonia ends most travel-related COVID-19 measures as of Aug. 3. Self-quarantine still required for locally transmitted cases.
Event
Officials have ended COVID-19 travel restrictions in New Caledonia as of Aug. 3, following the cancellation of a state of emergency for France. Travelers to New Caledonia from designated “orange” zone locations no longer need a compelling reason for travel, while passengers from “red” zone locations no longer need to quarantine. Entrants do not need to undergo mandated testing after arrival.
Domestic Measures
The government recommends facemasks for people aged 18 years and above while visiting medical, social service, and care facilities.
Authorities require people who test positive for COVID-19 to self-quarantine for five days; affected individuals can leave quarantine after 48 hours if symptoms remain mild or nonexistent. Authorities require people with COVID-19 who have newly exited quarantine and their designated close contacts to follow enhanced precautions for seven days; affected individuals should wear facemasks, limit contact with other people, telecommute if possible, and avoid public transportation. Officials permit people employed in critical industries who test positive but are asymptomatic to continue working.
Advice
