Clashes are ongoing in the Owode-Elede area of Lagos Aug. 29. Clashes erupted after the murder of the leader of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), by a rival gang Aug. 28. At least three people have reportedly been killed, with buildings and vehicles set ablaze in the area. Security forces have been deployed to restore calm in the area. Further clashes are likely over the coming hours.

Increased security and traffic disruptions are likely in the coming hours in the affected area. Clashes between security forces and protesters remain possible. Additional disruptive protests remain possible over the coming days. Police forces will forcibly disperse any such gatherings, notably if protesters obstruct road traffic.
