Employees affiliated with the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) and the Senior Staff Association of Electricity and Allied Companies (SSAEAC) have suspended a nationwide strike as of Aug. 18 following talks with the Ministry of Labour and Employment. Participants initially embarked on an indefinite work stoppage over working conditions Aug. 17. Union representatives announced that the action will resume should the issues remain unanswered within two weeks.

The action caused power outages, while participants also picketed at Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) sites nationwide. Residual power disruptions may persist over the coming hours and days.
