Student unions plan protests in urban centers across Peru from 16:00 Aug. 6. Heightened security, and transit disruptions are likely.

Activists affiliated with the Association of National Universities of Peru (Asociacion de Universidades Nacionales del Peru, AUNAP) and other unions are organizing protests in urban centers from 16:00 Aug. 6 to denounce recent changes to universities' autonomous status. Participants plan to demonstrate in main squares and universities in Lima, Cusco, Arequipa, Junin and Tacna. Organizers have not confirmed the exact locations of gatherings; however, protesters in Lima may gather at Plaza San Martin or Plaza de Armas.
Hundreds of students will likely attend the protests. Heightened security and localized transit disruptions are likely.
