Puerto Rico: Amended COVID-19-related restrictions effective Sept. 1 /update 39
Puerto Rico amends COVID-19 restrictions effective Sept. 1. Under the amended rules, new restrictions on large events take effect.
Event
Effective Sept. 1, authorities will implement new COVID-19-related restrictions related to large gatherings. Under the restrictions, all persons attending an event with more than 1,000 people will be required to provide one of the following to be admitted:
Proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19
Negative results from a COVID-19 test administered by a certified laboratory no more than 48 hours prior to the event
A positive COVID-19 test result taken within three months accompanied by a letter written by certified health provider or a public health official stating that the patient has fully recovered from the disease and is ready to attend public events
All other persons will be denied entry to such events. Additionally, all persons attending events with more than 1,000 people will be required to wear facemasks throughout their attendance.
International Travel Restrictions
Travelers must continue to follow the federal requirements for travel from outside the US and US territories. Nonresident foreign nationals aged 18 or older must be fully vaccinated to enter Puerto Rico from abroad by air. Children under 18 years of age do not need to be vaccinated, and vaccination is not required for air travel from the mainland US. For more information on federal US travel restrictions, click here.
Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.
Advice
Follow all official instructions. Reconfirm all travel arrangements and business appointments. Ensure contingency plans account for further disruptive measures or extensions of current restrictions.
