South Korea: Authorities responding to chemical leak at Jeju National University in Jeju Aug. 26

Authorities are responding to a formaldehyde leak at Building 1 of the College of Natural Sciences at Jeju National University Aug. 26. The leak occurred at around 10:36. Emergency services have evacuated the building; at least nine people suffered injuries.

Heightened security, as well as localized business and transport disruptions, are likely near the incident site in the coming hours. Lingering disruptions may persist through at least the afternoon of Aug. 26 as authorities investigate the accident's cause.
