Timor-Leste: Officials continue to impose COVID-19 restrictions as of Aug. 18 /update 51
Timor-Leste continues to impose domestic and international travel restrictions due to COCVID-19 as of Aug. 18.
Event
Authorities continue to impose COVID-19 restrictions as of Aug. 18.
Domestic Measures
Officials continue to require people to wear facemasks, frequently sanitize their hands, and maintain a 1-meter (3 feet) distance from others when in public. The government may reintroduce stricter measures in some localities at short notice, depending on changes in COVID-19 activity. The enforcement level of the curbs varies across the country.
International Travel Restrictions
Authorities allow entry for all travelers of nationalities for all purposes; foreigners can obtain a tourist visa upon arrival in Timor-Leste. The government requires arrivals who are not fully vaccinated to quarantine for 10 days at designated facilities as of Aug. 18. Officials may exempt unvaccinated travelers who cannot be vaccinated due to medical reasons; a medical letter on the medical condition must be presented upon arrival. Fully vaccinated entrants are not subject to quarantine requirements, though officials may require arrivals with COVID-19 symptoms to undergo a PCR test and quarantine for 10 days at a designated facility. While the government does not mandate any pre-departure tests, airlines may have specific testing requirements to enter and exit Timor-Leste.
Advice
Follow all official instructions. Maintain contact with your diplomatic representation. Ensure contingency plans account for any introduction or reinstatement of disruptive measures. Plan for possible transport, business, and ground shipping disruptions.
