Venezuelan teachers affiliated with several organizations and unions, including the Teaching Network for Venezuela (Red Pedagogia por Venezuela), plan to hold protests in several locations across the country Aug. 2-4. The purpose of the demonstrations is to demand that authorities increase teachers' salaries and fully pay them their vacation bonuses.

Aug. 2

  • Acarigua, Portuguesa State: Prosecutor's Office, 09:00

  • Coro, Falcon State: Plaza Bolivar, 09:00

  • Barcelona, Anzoategui State: Plazoleta de la Gobernacion, 09:00

  • Trujillo, Trujillo State: Plaza Sucre, 09:00

  • San Cristobal, Tachira State: Universidad de Los Andes, 09:00

Aug. 4

  • Caracas: Ministry of Education, 09:00

  • Maturin, Monagas State: Zona Educativa, 09:00

  • San Felipe, Yaracuy State: Zona Educativa, 09:00

Hundreds of people are likely to participate in each of the planned demonstrations; similar protests materialized Aug. 1 in multiple cities, including Valencia and Barquisimeto, with hundreds of demonstrators in attendance. Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near protest sites. Clashes are unlikely to occur but cannot be ruled out.
