Several unions, including the Federation of Workers of the Central University of Venezuela (Federacion de Trabajadores de la Universidad Central de Venezuela, Fetra UCV) and the Federation of Teachers of Venezuela (Federacion Venezuela de Maestros), have called for protests in Caracas and Los Teques Aug. 23. In Caracas, protesters plan to gather from 10:00 at Esquina de Salas, located near the Ministry of Education at the intersection of Avenida Norte 4 and Avenida Oeste 5. In central Los Teques, protesters will gather at Plaza Bolivar from 10:00. The participants will demonstrate against the policies of the National Budget Office (Oficina Nacional de Presupuesto, ONAPRE).

Demonstrations are also possible in other urban centers across Venezuela. Authorities will likely deploy to monitor the protest. Localized ground travel disruptions are likely near the gathering site in central Caracas. Clashes are possible.
