Event

Civil society groups in Goma, North Kivu Province have called for stay-at-home protests in Goma, Sept. 26-27. Participants intend to denounce the control of the town of Bunagana, also in North Kivu by M23 rebels, and demand the departure of the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) and an end to the ongoing State of Siege. An increased security presence has been reported in the town as authorities have banned the protest.

Localized business disruptions are likely across Goma through Sept. 26-27. Should protests materialize, security forces are likely to deploy to monitor and manage the gatherings.
