India: Authorities issue traffic advisory for Central Vista project inauguration in New Delhi 18:00-21:00 Sept. 8
Traffic advisory issued for project inauguration near Raisina Hill in New Delhi, India, 18:00-21:00 Sept. 8. Increased security likely.
Event
Authorities in New Delhi have issued a traffic advisory for the Central Vista Redevelopment Project inauguration near Raisina Hill 18:00-21:00 Sept. 8. Nearly 2,000 attendees, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will likely to attend the scheduled event. Government buildings operating in the area will close mid-day, and non-essential staff members will work remotely.
Authorities will reroute traffic on roads leading to the India Gate monument. Officials will divert incoming traffic from the Akbar, Ashoka, Copernicus, Dr. Zakir Hussain, Kasturba Gandhi (KG), Pandara, Purana Quila, Shahjahan, Shershah, and Tilak Marg roads. Additionally, the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMTS), and other transit authorities will divert public transport vehicles to reduce traffic congestion along the aforementioned routes. Traffic along the Ring and Panchkuian roads, highways from the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS), and Lodhi and Moolchand bridges will also be affected. Authorities recommend that travelers avoid using private vehicles due to heavy traffic.
A heightened security presence is almost certain in the affected areas. Localized traffic disruptions and movement restrictions for pedestrians will likely occur on nearby roads, such as Mathura, Ashoka, Prithvi Raj, Subramaniam Bharti, Man Singh Firoz Shah, and Sikandra roads. Localized business disruptions are also possible through the evening of Sept. 8.
Advice
Heed all official advisories. Confirm travel and business appointments in advance if operating in the impacted area. Use alternative routes to avoid road closures and security-related disruptions.
