India: Farmer groups to protest in Bengaluru, Karnataka State, Sept. 26

Unionized sugarcane farmers have called for a protest outside the Vidhana Soudha assembly building in Bengaluru, Sept. 26. The start time is unclear; activists may gather from the late morning through the afternoon. Organizers are demanding the state fulfill several demands including increasing crop procurement prices, compensating flood-related losses, and repealing proposed changes to electricity subsidies. Dozens to a few hundred people may participate. Attendees may march towards the legislative building from popular gathering sites like the Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna Railway Station or Freedom Park.
