A magnitude-4.1 earthquake occurred near Genoa in Liguria Region at around 15:40 Sept. 22. The epicenter was about 11 km (7 miles) east-northeast of Genoa. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 10 km (6 miles), and light shaking was probably felt near the epicenter and weak shaking across other parts of northwestern Italy. There have been no initial reports of damage or casualties as a result of the earthquake; however, significant damage is unlikely.
