Mexico: Activists plan protest march in multiple cities across the country Sept. 25 to denounce violence

Activists from various organizations plan to march in four different cities in Mexico Sept. 25. The purpose of the action is to denounce violence and increased militarization of the country. Organizers have released the following details of marching routes and starting times follows:

• Guadalajara: Activists will gather at the intersection of Avenida Mexico and Avenida Chapultepec at 16:00 before marching to the Monumento a Los Ninos Heroes, also called the Glorieta de las y Los Desaparecidos.

• Leon: Participants will meet at the Causeway Arch (Arco de la Calzada) at 11:00 before marching to the city center.

• Mexico City: Demonstrators will gather at the Monument to the Revolution at 10:30 before marching to the Angel of Independence.

• San Luis Potosi: Activists to gather at Tequisquiapan Garden at 11:00. A march route has not been announced.

Although the action should remain largely peaceful, authorities will almost certainly deploy an increased police presence near gatherings as a precaution. Localized transport and business disruptions are likely. Clashes between protesters and security forces cannot be ruled out, especially if authorities attempt to disperse crowds forcibly.
