New Caledonia: Bus service disruptions ongoing in Noumea and surrounding areas Sept. 7

Bus disruptions to continue in parts of Greater Noumea, New Caledonia, through Sept. 7. Additional disruptions possible.

Informational

Event

Bus service disruptions are occurring in Noumea and surrounding areas as of Sept. 7. Operators closed several routes following attacks on coaches Sept. 2. Operators will halt services on the L1, L2, L7, L8, D5, D6, D7, M2, M3, M4, P1, P2, P3, and P4 from 17:00; drivers did not operate on these routes 06:30-15:00. Additional suspensions are possible in the coming days, especially to evening services.

Increased demand for alternative transport is likely. Crowded conditions are also possible on alternative bus routes. Some commuters could resort to using their private vehicles, potentially increasing traffic congestion between central Noumea and surrounding towns.

Advice

Confirm bus schedules in affected areas. Seek alternative transport, if needed. Allow additional time to reach destinations due to possible increased traffic congestion and higher demand for alternative transport services.
