Protesters have gathered outside the French embassy in Ouagadougou Oct. 1 after leaders of the Sept. 30 coup in Burkina Faso accused France of having assisted former junta leader Lieutenant-Colonel Damiba in an attempted counter-coup. A fire has been reported at the embassy; there have also been unconfirmed reports of gunfire in the area.
