India: Activists to protest in Bengaluru, Karnataka State, Oct. 18

Activists from the Beda Jangama community will protest outside the Vidhana Soudha assembly building in Bengaluru Oct. 18. The start time is unclear; participants may gather from the late morning through the afternoon. Organizers are demanding recognition as a scheduled caste and extension of corresponding benefits such as political and employment reservation. A few hundred people may participate. Attendees may march towards the legislative building from popular gathering sites like the Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna Railway Station or Freedom Park.
