Warning

Event

Indian Railways will continue to cancel trains nationwide as of Oct. 3 due to maintenance work and operational-related challenges. Rail authorities have announced 129 train cancellations and 24 partially suspended services for Oct. 4; primary areas impacted include northern India, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh states, as well as Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory.

Passenger and cargo train schedules in India will almost certainly be disrupted. Businesses dependent on trains for deliveries may experience delays and other disruptions throughout the maintenance period. Increased demand for alternative transport is possible. Large crowds may form at impacted train stations. Traffic congestion is possible as some travelers opt to use personal vehicles, taxis, and ride-hailing services.

Advice

Confirm all train reservations in advance. Consider booking alternative travel for time-sensitive trips. Allow extra time for reaching a destination due to increased traffic congestion-plan for shipping and supply chain disruptions.
