Micronesia: Authorities ease COVID-19 entry and interstate travel measures as of Oct. 11 /update 3

Officials ease COVID-19 entry and interstate travel restrictions in Micronesia as of Oct. 11.

Informational

Event

The Micronesian government has lifted a requirement for inbound travelers to have a booster vaccination dose for entry as of Oct. 11. Officials will no longer require pre-departure testing for travelers or a self-quarantine period on arrival. Chuuk State has also opened to interstate and international travel without quarantine.

Domestic Measures
Micronesia continues to implement limited measures nationwide. The government requires people to adhere to six feet of physical distance in public. Officials may request that people who test positive for COVID-19 remain at home, though the self-quarantine period remains unclear and could vary. A federal facemask mandate has ended, but state governments can implement their own facemask rules, and requirements can vary depending on COVID-19 activity.

International Travel Restrictions
The government permits entry for fully vaccinated individuals and children under age five, regardless of vaccination status. Exemptions are possible with medical clearance, but officials could seek additional evidence. All travelers must complete a Health Clearance Form.

Advice

Follow all official instructions. Abide by national health and safety measures. Reconfirm all transport arrangements and required travel documents as a precaution. Consider delaying traveling if experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19, as they may prompt increased scrutiny and delays.
