Informational

Event

The New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) will close a section of State Highway 6 in northern South Island Nov. 1-Dec. 18 for repairs. Officials will halt traffic on the highway between Hira and Ronga Road due to structural concerns in five locations. NZTA could reopen a single lane for traffic before Dec. 18 to allow partial traffic.

Transport disruptions between Nelson and Blenheim are likely. An alternative route between the two locations is available via State Highway 63, but the detour will extend travel times significantly. Shipping delays are possible in the region.

Advice

Confirm traffic conditions on alternative routes before driving or routing shipments; allow additional time to reach destinations between Nelson and Blenheim.
