An Air Century (Y2) charter plane, CRJ-200, veered off the runway, prompting the closure of Augusto Cesar Sandino International Airport (MGA), the evening of Oct. 15. Reports indicate the aircraft took off from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, carrying around 59 passengers. Officials are evacuating the passengers and clearing the runway. There are no initial reports of injuries. Reports suggest that MGA will be operational by around 19:30.
Flight disruptions are likely in the coming hours. Lingering delays will probably continue after flights resume as airlines work to clear backlogs.
