Event
Further civil unrest is possible in Ughelli over the coming days following a violent protest that broke out in the town on Oct. 4 over an allegedly illegal cybercrimes operation carried out by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). EFCC operations have led to the detainment of Delta youths suspected of engaging in cybercrimes. The arrest has resulted in the allegedly illegal confiscation of property. Youths in the area have clashed with security forces, resulting in the burning of several vehicles and the shooting of at least three individuals.
Increased security and localized transport disruptions are likely in Ughelli. Further confrontations may occur. Police operations could result in localized ground travel disruptions.
