Unionized public workers with GO Bus continue strike in greater Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Nov. 9. Transit disruptions likely.

Warning

Event

Unionized public bus workers, part of the GO Transit system, are continuing an indefinite strike in the Greater Toronto Area in Ontario as of Nov. 9 following failed negotiations between Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 1587 leaders and Metrolinx. The strike has forced the cancellation of the bus system serving the Greater Golden Horseshoe area of Ontario. Reports indicate that the strikes will last at least until Nov. 11. GO Transit trains have continued to operate without any changes.

While the strike continues, public transport disruptions are likely in Toronto and the Greater Golden Horseshoe area of Ontario. Higher-than-usual traffic and overcrowding on other public transport services are likely.

Advice

Consider using alternative modes of transportation. Allow additional time to reach destinations if operating in the affected area during the duration of the strike.
