Informational

Event

Public education employees affiliated with the STIP/AEP-UNSA union plan to stage a strike across French Polynesia Nov. 24. The purpose of the work stoppage is to demand better working conditions, such as additional training hours. Unless averted, the labor action will likely disrupt the operations of the public school system.

Activists may stage demonstrations during the strike period, especially near educational facilities, government buildings, public squares, and/or major thoroughfares. The sizes of any gatherings that materialize will probably vary by location, with the largest turnout likely in Papeete. Security personnel may monitor any related demonstrations. Localized transport disruptions are possible.

Advice

Exercise caution near any demonstrations that materialize as a standard security precaution. Allow additional time to reach destinations near potential protest locations, especially in Papeete. Heed all official transport and security advisories.
