Staff at Taneo, the public transport provider in Noumea, will withdraw their services Nov. 7 and 8 in protest over the Nov. 4 assault of a bus driver. Impacted lines include Lines 1/Neobus, L2, L7, L8, D5, D6, D7, M2, M3, M4, P1, P2, P3, and P4.

Increased demand for alternative transport is likely. Crowded conditions are also possible on alternative bus routes. Some commuters could resort to using their private vehicles, potentially increasing traffic congestion between central Noumea and surrounding towns.
