Nigeria: Flight disruptions ongoing as unionized staff strike at Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two as of Nov. 1

Flight disruptions ongoing as unionized staff strike at Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two, Lagos, Nigeria, as of Nov. 1.

Warning

Event

Flight disruptions are ongoing at Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two (MMA2), Lagos, as of the morning Nov. 1. Reports indicate that unions, including Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSSAN), have blocked access to the terminal to protest the dismissal of around 34 coworkers. The terminal serves domestic flights.

It is unclear how long the disruptions will go on. Flight delays and cancellations could persist following strike periods as the airport deals with any passenger backlog and airlines reposition aircraft and crew.

Advice

Confirm flights if booked to fly via MMA2 Nov. 1. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Arrive early at the airport to allow additional time for processing. Consider alternative arrangements for critical travel.
