Large gatherings, heightened security likely in Morocco ahead of and during Morocco vs. France match in FIFA World Cup Dec. 14.

Warning

Event

Large gatherings and increased security measures are likely in the capital Rabat and other major cities across the country ahead of and during the FIFA World Cup match between France and Morocco Dec. 14. Rallies, demonstrations, and other gatherings could materialize with little notice, especially around soccer stadiums and prominent public squares, as well as along major thoroughfares.

Heightened security measures, including temporary road closures, will almost certainly remain in place until early Dec. 15. Some localized ground transport delays are likely. Clashes and acts of vandalism are possible.

Advice

Plan for travel delays and disruptions until at least the early morning hours of Dec. 15, in particular in the immediate vicinity of any football-related gatherings. In the event of violence, leave the area. Strictly heed the instructions of security personnel.
