Suspected bandits abducted several people from the Angwan Pa community in Kajuru, Kaduna State, Dec. 26. The incident reportedly occurred at 19:30 when the assailants surrounded the village, shooting sporadically. Reports indicate that the suspected bandits allegedly abducted 57 people; however, 37 escaped, bringing the number of victims to 16. No group has as yet claimed responsibility for the attack, nor has there been any ransom demand.
Authorities will likely maintain a heightened security presence in the areas surrounding Damari and launch operations to apprehend the attackers and rescue the victims in the coming days. Localized transport disruptions are likely along main roads due to security checkpoints. Armed clashes between kidnappers and security forces cannot be ruled out.
