Disruptions to cross-border travel possible near Beloko, CAR, after rebel attack early Jan. 21.

Heightened security, cross-border disruptions, and further clashes are possible in the vicinity of Beloko in the western Central African Republic (CAR) in the coming days following a rebel attack in the area early Jan. 21. Militants associated with the Coalition des Patriotes pour le Change (CPC) attacked government forces in the border town. During the assault, at least two Wagner Group mercenaries were killed. Damage to buildings also occurred in the area, including to a government customs office. Disruptions to cross-border transport may also occur on the Cameroon side of the frontier in the Garoua-Mboulai area in the coming days.

Reconfirm the status of the border crossing before departure. If operating in the CAR, exercise a high degree of vigilance due to the threat of violence and comply with authorities' directives. Avoid travel at night and undertake all travel outside of urban centers in convoy and following a full security review of the route. Maintain regular contact with diplomatic representations.
