A magnitude-5.2 earthquake occurred in Chile's Tarapaca Region at around 20:23 CLST Jan. 4. The epicenter was about 153 km (95 miles) east-southeast of Arica, Chile. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 132 km (82 miles), and light shaking may have been felt in parts of Tarapaca Region.
