Japan: Yamanote line services in Tokyo partly suspended through Jan. 8 for planned construction
Yamanote line services in Tokyo, Japan, partly suspended through Jan. 8 for planned construction.
Event
Clockwise (outer circle) services between Osaki and Ikebukoru Stations on the Yamanote Line are suspended through Jan. 8 for planned construction. The outages will affect service to Harajuku, Shibuya, and Shinjuku stations. Normal service is scheduled to resume from early Jan. 9. Authorities are running extra trains on other routes to compensate for the outages.
Demand for alternative means of transport will likely be higher on affected routes through Jan. 8.
Advice
Make alternative transit plans along the affected route. Allow extra time to reach destinations due to increased traffic congestion and demand for alternative transportation. Monitor local news sources for developments.
