Further violence is possible over the coming hours in the vicinity of the Ojota area of Lagos following unrest early Jan. 9. The exact reason for the unrest is unclear. Police reportedly dispersed a rally held by self-determination Yoruba activists. Conflicting reports suggest that clashes involved rival Yoruba activists. Gunfire and up to two deaths have been reported, though this remains unconfirmed. There is a heightened security presence in the area.
