Officials have heightened security in Mogadishu Jan. 31 coinciding with a 2-day visit by foreign dignitaries. Several roads have reportedly been closed in the city, likely to facilitate the movement of visitors. Heightened security measures are almost certain in and around Aden Adde International Airport (MGQ) in Mogadishu through Feb. 1.

Officials could impose additional patrols and checkpoints in the city. Road closures could be enforced at short notice. Disruptions to flight schedules are likely at MGQ through Feb. 1. Authorities had previously announced flight restrictions at the facility. Authorities will likely allow medical, VIP, and technical flights to continue as normal. Lingering disruptions are possible once the airport resumes operations and officials work to clear passenger backlogs. Traffic disruptions throughout the city are possible, especially near the airport.
