US: Flights grounded nationwide after Federal Aviation Administration reports a system failure Jan. 11

Flights grounded across the US after Federal Aviation Administration reports a system failure Jan. 11.

Critical

Event

Multiple flights across the US are grounded after the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported issues with its Notice to Air Missions System early Jan. 11. Efforts are being made to restore the system and the FAA has stated it is making final validations and reloading its system; however, it remains unclear when the service will resume. As a result of the system failure, at least 760 flights traveling in, out, and within the US have been delayed and at least 90 others were canceled as of 06:30 Jan. 11.

Flight disruptions and cancelations are also likely to continue after the FAA system resumes while officials work to get airport operations back on schedule.

Advice

Monitor updates from the FAA and relevant airports and airlines. Confirm your flight before leaving for the airport. Allow additional time for check in and to clear airport security.
