Barbados: Authorities suspend operations at Grantley Adams International Airport late Feb. 14 due to faulty runway lights
Barbados authorities suspend operations at Grantley Adams International Airport late Feb. 14 due to faulty runway lights.
Event
Authorities have suspended flight operations at Grantley Adams International Airport (BGI) late Feb. 14 due to faulty lights on BGI's only runway. Flights are expected to resume at approximately 06:00 Feb. 15. Several airlines have reported flight cancelations as a result. BGI is the only international airport in Barbados.
The closures will almost certainly prompt flight cancelations and disruptions for businesses dependent on flight access. Lingering disruptions are likely once flights resume as airlines clear the backlog of disrupted flights.
Advice
Contact travel operators for updated flight information. Do not check out of your accommodations until your flight has been confirmed.
