Kosovo: Student-led protest to take place in Pristina Feb. 15

University of Pristina student to lead protest in Pristina, Kosovo, from 16:00 Feb. 15. Increased security, localized disruptions likely.

Warning

Event

The Parliament of Students of the University of Pristina will lead a protest in Pristina from 16:00 on Feb. 15. Students and other activists will denounce the proposed Association of Serb Municipalities, which would create an executive structure of ethnic Serb majority municipalities in parallel to the central government. Participants will gather at the National University Library around 16:00 before marching through the city center. Although the exact march route is unknown, organizers will likely demonstrate near Parliament, located a short distance from the National University Library.

Although attendance levels are unclear, previous student protests have been well attended and featured outsized disruption. Police will deploy to monitor and facilitate the gathering. Large crowds and associated security measures will likely prompt localized disruptions. While violence is not anticipated, isolated scuffles between police and protesters cannot be ruled out.

Advice

Avoid all protests as a routine security precaution. Follow local travel and security advice. Allow extra time if traveling in central Pristina.
