Morocco: Taxi drivers plan to protest in Mohammedia Feb. 17

Taxi drivers plan to demonstrate outside the Court of First Instance in Mohammedia from 11:00 Feb. 17. Protesters are denouncing the alleged unfair arrest of a driver. Dozens to a hundred individuals could attend the demonstration.

Increased security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the Court of First Instance through the afternoon of Feb. 17. While organizers have not announced any work stoppages, there could be a reduction in taxi availability during the protest. Clashes between police and protesters cannot be ruled out, particularly if demonstrators are overly disruptive or if they ignore police orders to disperse.

Mohammedia is approximately 24 km (15 miles) northeast of Casablanca.
