Decreased internet bandwidth to persist in parts of Taiwan through April 20 due to repair works on two damaged undersea cables.
Event
Periods of reduced internet speeds will continue in parts of Taiwan through April 20 following accidental damage to two undersea cables; the damage occurred on Feb. 2. Service provider Chunghwa Telecom advises that disruptions to internet and mobile services are especially likely in Lienchiang County.
Additionally, the National Communications Commission (NCC) has warned such disruptions may also impact customers of other telecommunication providers elsewhere in Taiwan. Associated business disruptions are possible until authorities complete repair works.
Advice
Plan accordingly for possible communication and business disruptions due to reduced bandwidth. Consider alternative modes of communication, such as satellite connections, for critical business operations.
